I wonder… Should we change the SCOTUS to…

Should we change SCOTUS to SCROTUM?  After all, it’s obvious they’re just a bunch of numb nuts… we’ll, at least 5 of the 9 are.  You know, CJ Roberts said,

“Members of this Court are vested with the authority to interpret the law; we possess neither the expertise nor the prerogative to make policy judgments,” Roberts wrote in his opinion (page six).

“Those decisions are entrusted to our Nation’s elected leaders, who can be thrown out of office if the people disagree with them. It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices [emphasis added],

Ok, fair enough, but let me ask you this, Justice Roberts, why did the 4 dissenting judges disagree with you?  What part of their argument did you not agree with?

By deciding the constitutionality of a law, you are protecting the people from bad policy.  You didn’t do your job properly and you sided with the people who tend to lean more to the socialist side.

You’re lucky that your position is not an elected one, as I’m quite sure you’d be voted out ASAP.

  1. “By deciding the constitutionality of a law, you are protecting the people from bad policy.”

Not entirely sure I agree with this observation. I can think of many ways a law could be constitutional, but not in the best interests of the people. I do believe that the people should be protected somehow from the tendency for the Supremes to effectively make laws, instead of just rule on the constitutionality of laws. And yes — I agree — I would really like to see individual arguments against the minority opinions, as well as the minority arguments against the majority opinions (which I think we get, for the most part).
