What happens if current events take the wrong path?

I’m sure you remember those books that gave you a choice to make and that dictated where the story went.  It would say something like “if you chose ‘a’ turn to page 23, if you chose ‘b’ turn to page 30.”  You had influence on how the story turned out.  Well, right now, most of us have no real role in how the events play out on the world stage; the Middle East on fire, China making threats of war to Japan, Europe’s economy on the verge of a huge recession, etc.

KAFIR! KAFIR!

I’m a “kafir.”  You’re probably a “kafir,” too.  According to Islam, a kafir is anyone who isn’t Muslim; unbelievers, infidel, and so on.  Right now, the Muslim world is burning with the desire to see the most powerful “kafir” nation destroyed.

These people are burning our flag, breaching our emabassies’ walls, protesting in the streets, and the most extreme are killing our people.

While I’m no fan of Obama, I have to admit I have no idea how I would handle this situation if I were president.  This has to be a tough one.  One thing I wouldn’t do is arrest an American for a crappy movie as a scapegoat.  The First Amendment still means something in this country.  At least for now.

You  hear a lot of people talking about how they would handle it if they were president.  To me, it’s stupid.  In President Obama’s defense… I can’t belive I said that… just stop.  To me, it’s like someone saying, “when I go to war, I’m gonna kill all the enemies I can!  Guns blazing!”

To those people, I say shut up!  Unless you deal with this stuff as a job you have no idea how you’re going to react until you’re in that situation.  You don’t have all the info needed to tell you how you’d respond.  Just like you don’t have the experience to know how you’ll respond if someone begins dropping mortar rounds on you while they’re pinning your butt down with small arms.

With all that said, how do we handle this kind of situation so that we come out on top?  We can’t let them make us into apologists.  We can’t let them make us change our society or culture.  We can’t let them compromise our sovereignty.  And we sure as hell can’t let them attack us anymore.  So what do we do if things take a turn for the worse and we wind up in a storm of fire and warfare?

I see, said Basic Lee

Oh, the Chinese are madder than a hive of shaken bees.  The Japanese just purchased two privately held islands that the Chinese say are theirs.  See “China going to war with Japan?” for more info on what could happen in this scenario.

She goes down! Down! Down!

A little spin from Motley Crue.  Who?  Motley who?  Oh crap, I just showed my age.  However, to the point here, the European economy is on the verge of a huge recession.  It was thought, at one point, the struggling Euro could pull out of the crapper with Greece’s austerity measures and some bail outs for Spain and the other struggling economies, but it would seem that was not the case.

If Europe goes into a deep recession or, worse, into a depression, how is that going to impact the US economy?  What about Asia’s?  Don’t care about Asia’s economies?  You better.  It has a direct impact on our economy.  European economies do, too.  In fact, both those economies, in addition to ours, pretty much runs everything.  What happens to one of the three can have severe consequences on the other two.

So lets say China declares war on Japan.  We start seeing consumer goods and cheap plastic crap become more expensive and then disappear.  Then Europe’s economies begin to buckle and slide into a recession and then a depression.  Both those events will cripple the US.

Things that cost $1 now, will cost up to $10, credit/debit cards will be virtually worthless, interest rates will sky-rocket.  Then the government will print more money devaluing it even further.  See where I’m going here?

Give me some thoughts.  Where do you see this going?  What happens in this country politically?  I can see all kinds of scenarios playing out.

For example, the economy tanks completely and peoples’ reliance on entitlements causes anger and panic.  People begin to riot and loot.  People begin doing whatever they have to do to survive, even if that includes killing someone for their food, shelter, and money.  You’ll find people creating havoc just because they can and want to.

The president will, at first, appeal to the human decency side of people asking them to stop.  Eventually, that will break down and martial law will be enacted to protect people and property from death and destruction. Look at Katrina’s aftermath.

Further down the road, those in power will fear the public.  You’ll see crack downs and power struggles in regions that become semi-autonomous little city-states.

That’s just one of many scenarios that can begin to play out, and what I wrote there is still just the beginning.  That scenario alone can go in any number of directions.

Now, what are your thoughts?
