Low-Level, my butt!

Ok, so whenever there is a scandal or something goes wrong in the Obama administration, it seems low-level employees are to blame.  That is, if you believe the White House in recent weeks.  First the IRS, and now Israel.

The Obama administration has reportedly apologized to Israel for another leak of classified information to the media, an airstrike that occurred earlier this month and which Israeli officials are concerned could place Israelis at risk.

Israel Radio’s diplomatic correspondent Chico Menashe reported Sunday morning (via the Jerusalem Post):

American officials apologized to their Israeli counterparts for confirming that Israel was behind the airstrikes on the Damascus airport earlier this month, Israel Radio reported on Sunday.

The confirmation reportedly came from the lower ranks at the Pentagon, and the reasons for the leak are being investigated.

Menashe tweeted: “The U.S. has apologized to Israel for leaking details of the attack in Syria. Senior administration officials said to their [Israeli] counterparts that they are examining the issue and that low-level [officials] were responsible for the leak.”

Low-level, huh?  BS.  We already know the Obama administration is willing to lie to anyone to cover their own butts.  Need examples?  Fast and Furious, Holder knew nothing about it; Benhazi, see how many times the story has changed so far; IRS, low-level employees in Cincinnati, later found offices in California involved and several higher-ups knew and were implicitly involved; Israel’s pre-emptive airstrike on a Syrian airport; low-level employees leaked info.  There are more, but I’ll let you do some of the work here, too.

I’m sorry, but generally, low-level employees are too worried about their jobs in this financial climate and supporting their families to go and do something this stupid.  Low-level employees, also, generally do not have access to the information that would allow them to make these leaks.

It was, likely, some high-level management or federal executive that leaked it in an attempt to draw attention away from some of the crap we’ve been up to in the region.  Like what?  Like supplying arms to the Muslim Brotherhood in the Syrian rebels.  Don’t think for minute that many, if not all, of the Syrian rebels wouldn’t kill you for being a westerner and he’d use the very weapons out government gave them.

Blaming low-level employees is an easy scapegoat because they have fewer resources to fight back allegations of misconduct.  People, politics is a vicious game of cut throat.  People in higher positions trying to make a name for themselves are willing to step on anyone to get ahead.

Let’s say, for example, that the Social Security Administration had a scandal in which thousands of disability claimants’ personal information was leaked.  This has not happened, to my knowledge, it’s just a hypothetical.  What you would likely hear in the media is that it was low-level employees in the field office or the disability court leaking information.  The truth would likely be that the information was leaked a higher-up in Washington, D.C. or someone at one of the 6 regional offices.

Why would they blame the lowly staff worker?  Because, that lowly staff worker would have little or no way of recanting the allegations.

In any power structure, you’ll find those with the means will screw those without the means when it comes to their jobs.
