Hide your guns, people!

John Kerry announced that the administration will sign the UN Arms Treaty.  great, just great.  Kerry, releasing a written statement as the U.N. treaty opened for signature Monday, said the U.S. “welcomes” the next phase for the treaty, which the U.N. General Assembly approved on April 2.

The treaty would require countries that ratify it to establish national regulations to control the transfer of conventional arms and components and to regulate arms brokers, but it will not explicitly control the domestic use of weapons in any country.

This is exactly what the gun control people have been looking to do.  Whis will pretty much end private sales.  Want to pass an old hunting rifle down to you child or grandchild?  Sorry.  The kind of control they’re going to put on firearms will end that age-old tradition.

Last week, 130 members of Congress signed a letter to Obama and Kerry urging them to reject the measure for this and other reasons.

“As your review of the treaty continues, we strongly encourage your administration to recognize its textual, inherent and procedural flaws, to uphold our country’s constitutional protections of civilian firearms ownership, and to defend the sovereignty of the United States, and thus to decide not to sign this treaty,” the lawmakers wrote.

And guess what… It looks as if it’s falling on deaf ears at the White House.  I hear that the chance is slim that this will ever be enforced in the US, even if Obama signs the treaty, but I wouldn’t be so sure.  The president has been after gun control since the very beginning.

Before long, they’ll be looking at forcing everyone to register or surrender their firearms.  Don’t think it would happen?  All they have to do is make a law that you have to do one of those things and if you’re caught with a firearm that isn’t registered, you’re in deep dookie.

Folks, they’ve already started by buying up all the ammo creating major shortages.  Think I’m kidding?  I’ve actually had a couple people tell me they didn’t believe the government was buying up enough to cause shortages, even though they see the news and how many rounds have been reportedly bought.  Go to Bass pro, Cabela’s, Academy, even Wal-Mart and try to buy some 9mm ammo or .45 ACP.

On top of that if you think it has little to no effect on us domestically, think again.  The treaty prohibits states that ratify it from transferring conventional weapons if they violate arms embargoes or if they promote acts of genocide, crimes against humanity or war crimes. The treaty also prohibits the export of conventional arms if they could be used in attacks on civilians or civilian buildings such as schools and hospitals.

That’s any weapon, people.  A freakin’ lead pipe can be used against civilian targets.  Ever been hit with a lead pipe?  Well, I haven’t and I don’t want to either.

In addition, the treaty requires countries to take measures to prevent the diversion of conventional weapons to the illicit market. This is among the provisions that gun-rights supporters in Congress are concerned about.

This means hello more regulation, good bye gun shows, good bye internet firearms sites, goodbye 2nd Amendment.

  1. How do we stop this then?

    • The same way our forefathers would have. I for one will not lay down and let them take my rights. We have a Bill of Rights. Use those rights. I do with this blog.
