Is this what the sheriff had in mind? “Unlimited power resting directly on force, not limited by anything, not restrained by any laws or any absolute rules. Nothing else but that.” Is this what the sheriff had in mind?

Buried amidst the usual election year pablum from Sheriff Ed Brown of Onslow County, North Carolina, was this absolutely horrifying declaration:

“Those in the law enforcement profession have complete power and authority over you, your life, you family, your loved ones, your rights, your freedom, your future, and everything precious to life.”

Yes he actually said this. Click here and scroll down to the second red…

OKLAHOMA  – A dispute over land in Nevada between rancher Cliven Bundy and the Federal Government began decades ago.

Bundy says his family’s cattle have grazed on the land without interference since 1870.

The Bureau of Land Management says Bundy hadn’t paid his grazing fees since 1993, owing the government more than 1 million dollars.

The B.L.M. says Bundy was allowing his cattle to graze illegally, which triggered a forced round-up of about 400 of Bundy’s cattle just last week.
The cows were later released.

Organizers with the Oklahoma Militia say they have members in Nevada who say Bundy’s cattle were unlawfully rounded up by the B.L.M.

Militia member Scott Shaw comments on the round-up “evidently in America we don’t actually own the property anymore, if you ever did.”

The round-up sparked an armed standoff, but it wasn’t the Bundy family who owns the cattle, it was…

Look at me now, baby!

Look at me now, baby!  That’s usually a phrase someone would say when they’ve achieved something that no one thought could be done or was, at least, unlikely.  For example, I got my master’s degree.  I, for one, never thought it would happen, but it did.  I know several people who figured I’d drop out of college before getting my bachelor’s, let alone my MBA.  So, that’s where I would say “look at me now!”  However, this is a different story attached to the phrase.

Nevada: The first stand

As many of you know, Nevada may mark the first stand against the federal government that may spark the initial volley into a new revolution or civil war.  As militiamen and women converged on the Bundy’s ranch and surrounding area in Clark County, Nevada, we saw something that hasn’t happened in this country since the mid 1800s.  We saw armed Americans show up in force against an abusive federal government.

Potential Armed and Violent Conflict in Nevada

Yesterday, I wrote about the goings on in Clark County, Nevada at the Bundy Ranch.  I discussed that the Bureau of Land Management came in to enforce a lawsuit decision that stemmed from the government’s desire to protect the desert tortoise.  He has been in dispute with the federal government since 1993.

Is Nevada the match that sets it all off?

You may or may not know what’s going on in Nevada right now or the implications it poses for the rest of the US, so let me tell you all about it.  In a nutshell, there is this rancher grazing cattle on public land in Nevada.  Ranchers have done this since the mid-1800s.

White House adviser fuming over photo controversy, “end of all selfies”

Look, the White House is butthurt again!

KFOR.com

WASHINGTON – As an Oklahoma star was celebrating at the Academy of Country Music awards with a “selfie,” the White House is thinking about changing its policy on the pictures.

Country stars Blake Shelton and Luke Bryan snapped a picture before the award show started.

However, that exact action came under fire from the White House.

Officials have contacted Samsung after a “selfie” of the president and David Ortiz surfaced on Twitter, and was retweeted by the company.

Senior adviser Dan Pfeiffer said, “In general, whenever someone tries to use the president’s likeness to promote a product, that’s a problem.”

Samsung retweeted the photo in promotion of its Galaxy Note 3, the phone Ortiz used to take the picture.
